Billionaire Boys Club
It was in 2005 that musician and global superstar, Pharrell Williams, decided to apply his creative talents to the fashion industry. After a brief search for a partner, Williams approached Japan’s established fashion icon, Nigo, and immediately sensed similar creative sensibilities. Williams also recognised in Nigo - as the sole founder of A Bathing Ape (BAPE) - a wealth of experience in introducing new streetwear brands. Their relationship thrived and the fusion of ideas proved to be a success – The Billionaire Boys Club was conceived. In August 2011 news surfaced that rapper Jay-Z, a frequent collaborator of Pharrell and known to wear BBC himself, would be partnering with the Billionaire Boys Club line. Later, it was revealed that the rapper, through a joint-venture with Iconix, had invested in the brand.
